Born in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, he is the recipient of the State Lalit Kala Academy Award. His gestures ‘Gems 2000’, a rare art auction in aid of General Education on Multiple Sclerosis at Park Sheraton, Chennai, and ‘Mere’, an exhibition to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Gujarat, Park Sheraton Hotel Art Gallery, Chennai, were well appreciated. He is well known for his works ‘Chinga Melam-2000’ at Kerala Kala                  Peedam Art Gallery, Cochin, and ‘Vasanthakalam’, art exhibition at Amethyst, Chennai.
